XITY.BAR

A street-style speakeasy at the corner of culture and candlelight.

EST. AFTER MIDNIGHT RING TWICE
— THE PROGRAMME

An evening, in three movements.

Doors open at the unfashionable hour of 21:00. The bar runs four hours and not a minute longer. There is no menu — only a verbal exchange between you and the bartender that ends with something cold and well-considered in your hand.

The room holds twenty-eight. The room is loud at the right times and silent in unison at the wrong ones. You will leave knowing, at minimum, the first names of three strangers.

— THE BAR

House rules of an unstaged bar.

NO SIGN OUTSIDE
— ATMOSPHERE

Dim, low, slow.

The lighting is provided exclusively by candles and the residual neon of a sign across the street. We replace the candles every forty minutes. We do not replace the neon — we trust the city to do that for us.

— ADDRESS

Find us, if you can.

An unmarked door, three steps below the street, between a dry-cleaner and a record shop that closed in 2018. Knock politely. Wait.

Wednesday — Saturday · 21:00 — 01:00
