理論武装 — arming oneself with theory, gently, in a garden.

A garden, not a battlefield.

01

Pen as sword, transcribed.

In the old grammar of riron busou, theory is the armour and reason the blade. Here, the metaphor is replanted: every footnote a furrow, every citation a seedling. To prepare oneself is no longer to march, but to tend — to water arguments before they wilt, to prune doubts before they choke.

Shields as shelves.

A shield used to mean: I refuse the strike. A shelf says: I have prepared a place. Both are forms of armament; only one invites a guest. The cottage thinker keeps her shield turned outward, with well-loved books resting where arrows used to land.

Arrows flighted with text.

An idea, well-crafted, will fly straighter than any arrow — but only if it carries the small feathered weight of evidence. We fletch our claims with citation, our paragraphs with the soft barbs of qualification, and we let them land in the warm soil of someone else's afternoon.

Patience as armour.

There is a kind of theoretical preparation that cannot be rushed, only ripened. Like a perennial that resents transplant, the strongest argument is one allowed to overwinter — buried, then surprised by its own return.
