MERIDIANS
Lines of longitude -- meridians -- run from pole to pole, dividing Earth into 360 degrees. The Prime Meridian at 0 degrees passes through Greenwich, England, establishing the reference point for all east-west measurement. Every meridian is a great circle, each one the same length, each one connecting the North Pole to the South Pole through a unique path across the planet's surface.
