vol. ii — the cooperative of considered verdicts

judge.club

a quarterly catalogue of pronouncements from the artisans' guild of taste, arbitration, and warm clay.

issued · spring 2026 printed in terracotta & cream

section i · the catalogue

verdicts hung as prints, in considered asymmetry.

six pronouncements from this quarter's convocation. each is filed, stamped, and pressed into the public record by the cooperative's standing arbiter. the catalogue is not a feed; it is an exhibition.

case no. 0xi · admitted

the harvest loaf is judged sound, with reservations regarding the crust's resolve.

a unanimous conclusion of the bread tribunal: crumb honest, fragrance generous, edge perhaps too forgiving. the cooperative recommends a longer second proof.

stamped · 04.04.2026

case no. 0xii · returned

on the matter of the unattended kettle: a gentle but firm censure.

stamped · 04.04.2026

case no. 0xiii · upheld

turmeric, in all its forms, is endorsed without dissent.

case no. 0xiv · adjourned

the bonfire scheduled for the harvest moon is permitted, provided the wind permits.

a conditional ruling, dependent upon weather, propriety, and the supply of cider. the convocation reconvenes at dusk.

stamped · 04.04.2026

case no. 0xv · landmark

the cooperative declares the woven mat a vessel for ceremony, not merely a floor covering.

in a precedent that will guide the guild for ten further winters, the assembled arbiters confer upon the woven mat a status of ceremonial significance, henceforth to be treated with attendant care.

stamped · 04.04.2026

case no. 0xvi · denied

the substitution of margarine for butter in the festival cake is, regrettably, denied.

section ii · the cultural register

a vitrine of generative pressings, one per filed verdict.

each pressing is unique, plotted by hand of the cooperative's small machine. hover to summon a ripple of acknowledgement.

section iii · the convocation

we judge slowly. we judge warmly. we judge in turmeric and in clay.

the cooperative of considered verdicts assembles four times a year, in the ember of late afternoon, to deliberate the matters that no court will hear and no app will entertain.

— the standing arbiter, vol. ii, spring 2026

  1. 01 a verdict pronounced in haste is a verdict already overturned.
  2. 02 we vote with clay tokens, not with thumbs.
  3. 03 the vessel that holds the deliberation is as honoured as the deliberation itself.
  4. 04 a knot is a verdict tied with two hands; we untie none.
  5. 05 at every assembly a small bonfire is lit; an ember is sealed in clay and filed.
  6. 06 the stone we set on the seal is the stone we will be measured by.
