We begin behind the mask. The one we chose so long ago we forgot it was a choice.
Every room requires a different face. The professional. The friend. The lover. The stranger. We cycle through them with the fluency of a seasoned actor, never pausing to ask which role is closest to the truth.
The audience believes the performance. So do we. That is the danger.
