나무 — tree, wood, timber
A coastal village's weekly timber and seedling market
est. every Saturday since memory
Rows of young trees in clay pots and burlap wraps, arranged by species and season. The seller knows each one by name — where the seed came from, which year it sprouted, how it likes the light.
Planks of oak, cedar, and zelkova stacked in clean rows. The air smells of fresh sawdust and resin. Each board has a chalk annotation — grain direction, moisture content, the forest of origin.
The prize trees line the boardwalk toward the water — ancient bonsai, heritage varieties, trees with stories attached. Buyers come from distant cities for these.
Trained through four generations. Wind-swept style. The trunk tells a century of patient hands.
not for sale — exhibition onlyDescended from temple trees older than the village itself. Fan-shaped leaves turn gold in October.
