The lurker sees everything. Every thread, every comment, every revision. They are the most informed user and the least visible. They absorb the room's energy without disturbing it -- a ghost in the feed, a phantom in the margins.
There is power in observation without participation. The lurker understands the system from the outside, unburdened by the need to perform.
The best ghosts leave cold spots, not footprints.
A lurker's method is absence. No avatar, no handle, no history of posts. The account exists only as a read receipt -- proof that someone was here, that the content was consumed, that attention was paid. But by whom?
For one spread the margin disappears. The observer steps into the light. Content fills the frame edge to edge, unobserved, unmediated. This is what lurking looks like from the inside -- total immersion, zero distance. You are the ghost now.
Boo.
Every lurker has one word. One moment where the silence breaks, where the ghost becomes visible, where the observer steps into the light just long enough to be noticed. Then they disappear again.
