In the medinas of Fez and Marrakech, doors are autobiographies carved in cedar. Each geometric relief encodes the beliefs and aspirations of the household within — eight-pointed stars for divine order, interlocking circles for unity, flowing arabesques for the infinite nature of creation.

The craftsman works with compass and straightedge, the same tools Euclid used, constructing complexity from the interaction of simple circles. No measurement is arbitrary. Every angle derives from the previous one. Mathematics made visible, made tangible, made beautiful enough to welcome a stranger.

The astrolabe collapsed the celestial sphere into a brass disc small enough to hold in one hand. With it, scholars from Baghdad to Córdoba navigated not just geography but time itself — computing prayer times, finding qibla direction, predicting eclipses. An analog computer forged in firelight.

Its engraved lines catch light like the constellations they map. Each rete is a portrait of the sky above a specific latitude, a reminder that our view of the cosmos depends entirely on where we stand. Perspective is not abstract philosophy — it is brass and calculation and the slow turning of the heavens.
