The ghost does not haunt the house. The ghost haunts the typewriter. The typewriter haunts the sentences. The sentences haunt the reader. The reader haunts the house.
There is a drawer in this desk that opens onto a different desk in a different room in a different city. Both desks are real. The drawer is the only fiction.
