The stream was already moving when you arrived. It will continue after you leave. What you experience now is not the beginning or the end but a passage through the middle of something that has no edges.

PERSIST PERSIST

Continuity is not the absence of change. It is the presence of connection between states. The river at its source and the river at its mouth are not the same water, but they are the same river. The thread that runs through them is what we call identity.

Henri Bergson argued that our intellect divides time into discrete moments -- snapshots, frames, instants. But lived time, durée, is indivisible. It flows. To understand anything truly, you must enter the flow and feel it from within, not stand outside and measure it.

This is why the metaphor of the river recurs across every culture and every century. Heraclitus. The Dao De Jing. Siddhartha. The river does not argue for continuity. It simply continues.

ENDURE ENDURE

Where two currents meet, neither is destroyed. They merge, carrying the sediment of their separate journeys into a shared channel. This is confluence: the proof that continuity survives collision.

In mathematics, a continuum is a compact connected subset of the real number line. Between any two points, there are infinitely many others. There are no gaps. No voids. No places where the fabric of continuity is torn. This is not abstraction. It is the deepest statement about the nature of existence that mathematics has ever made.

The continuist does not deny change. The continuist insists that change is continuous -- that between every before and every after, there is an infinity of during.

FLOW FLOW

The delta is where the river remembers all its branches. Every choice, every fork, every tributary -- they all arrive here, spread wide across the flat earth, and deposit what they have carried.

What accumulates is not the water but the sediment. The ideas, the connections, the traces of every upstream event. The delta is not the end. It is the archive.

ALWAYS ALWAYS

The line continues. It has no endpoint that it knows of, no destination it is rushing toward. It simply draws itself forward, one moment flowing into the next, each indistinguishable from its neighbors and yet, over distance, unmistakably transformed.
