We are keeping the tank running. We are watching the kettle settle, the lichen advance one millimeter a year, the ledger close itself by lamplight. continua.club is the small society of continuances — the unbroken, the lovingly maintained, the things that ask nothing of us except that we leave them lit.

the tank, after seven years
We are keeping the tank running. The filter has been replaced four times; the snail population, three times; the small Hyphessobrycon eques — whom we call the resident, never the pet — is on her second light bulb. We are not certain whether this counts as care or as inertia. We have decided it does not matter. The water is clear. The hum is steady. The afternoon is warm. continua.club · entry 2,557
