CATALOGUE OF TYPOLOGICAL SPECIMENS

A Bauhaus foundation-course portfolio pinned to a municipal blueprint wall. Every element is a typological specimen, ruled and catalogued. The grid is visible because the grid is the work.

ISSUE / SERIES I — MMXXVI

Compiled in steel-navy and oxidized bronze. No photography. No hand-drawing. No gradients. No rounded corners above two pixels. The architecture is the content.

ATELIER

FOLIO · AN ESSAY

An archetype is a primitive — the fewest strokes that, taken together, name a thing. The circle, the triangle, the square: a vocabulary of three letters from which every composition descends.

In Dessau they taught the foundation course as a discipline of refusal. Strip the ornament. Strip the rhetoric. Begin with the ruled line, the compass arc, the chamfered corner. What remains after subtraction is the archetype, and the archetype is enough.

archetype.boo translates that pedagogy onto a municipal blueprint wall. The portfolio is not a gallery; it is a specimen catalogue. Each project is a typological entry, sized to integer cells, dated and stamped with a fake zoning code, captioned in Archivo Narrow eleven point, all caps.

The grid is visible because the grid is the work. The wordmark breathes thicker as you descend the page because the typography is variable on two axes and we choose to show it. The footer is a city block because the site is a building and the building stands on a street.
