— Plate II —

The Transit Chart

"The request enters the network, and the network breathes around it."

Seven nodes, hand-charted. Each annotated with a sidereal latitude, an autonomous-system number, and an apocryphal place-name in the margin.

The Anonymity Engine

"A brass-and-glass apparatus through which the address is unwritten."

The address enters at A, is unwritten in chambers C and D, and emerges at B with no record of its origin save the faint scratch of the resolver coil.

ADDRPROXY / PLATE IV / MS.1884
— Plate IV —

The Ledger

"A folio of certificates, each attesting to a feature of the apparatus."

— Certificate I —

Residential Routing

The address is routed through a cooperative of dwellings — homes whose addresses have been lent to the atlas for a season.

— Certificate II —

Rotating Identifiers

Every interval, the apparatus turns its drum, and a new address is etched. The old plate is filed and forgotten.

— Certificate III —

Session Stickiness

Where continuity is required, a single identity is held steady — pinned to its perch like a moth in a glass case for the duration of the work.

— Certificate IV —

Cartographic Reach

Two-hundred and forty regions are cataloged in the back-folio; each indexed by hand and consulted on quiet mornings.

— Plate V —

The Compass Room

"And so the cursor learns its bearing, and drifts toward the centroid of the work."

ADDRPROXY / PLATE VI / MS.1884
— Plate VI —

Colophon

This atlas was drafted on the upper floor of a cool stone tower, in cotton gloves, by a hand that wished to remain unnamed. Plates I through VI were inked between the equinoxes of 1884 and the present, and revised on cloudy Wednesdays.
