Act I · The Mirror

A journey through the masks we wear
and the self that wears them.

Act II · A Warm Persona

The one
who feels
everything.

She arrives in copper light, breath warm against the cold of the mirror. This is the mask of empathy — rounded edges, terracotta cheeks, eyes already brimming. When she speaks she speaks in colour.

We try her on. The world becomes louder, softer, redder. Every conversation a small fire to tend. We notice we have been wearing her longer than we knew.

Act III · A Cool Persona

The one who
watches
from above.

Cobalt steady. Geometry where the heart was. This mask measures the room before entering, then enters in straight lines. Its eyes are slits because too much light is data without meaning.

Behind glass we are precise, untouchable, useful. The world becomes a pattern. We forget that patterns are made by hands.

Act IV · A Grounded Persona

The one who
stays.

Loam under the fingernails. A voice like an old door that opens slowly and on purpose. This mask is heavy — carved, not painted — and wearing it roots the ankles to the floorboards.

Beneath it we say no, and mean it. We wait through winter. We are unfashionable and unmoved. People mistake our silence for absence.

Act V · A Gilded Persona

The one
who must
arrive.

Hammered gold, leaf-thin and loud. A spotlight follows the eyes wherever they turn. This mask is the lightest to put on and the heaviest to remove, because applause is a kind of glue.

We become the room's most-watched object. We confuse altitude with arrival. We are dazzling, and a little bit gone.

Interlude · The Dressing Room

?

Each mask is a true thing. None of them is the whole thing.
There is one more hook on the wall — and it is empty.

Coda

Unmasked.

Here, no border. No gilt. No theatre.

Only a person, a quiet room, and the small honest fact of being. The masks remain on the wall behind us, useful, beautiful, and not us.
