A monograph paired with an algorithmic broadcast. Letterpress sheets answered by a generative noise score, shipped together as a single edition.
contradiction — n.
a curated collision of disciplines
The line is drawn with intention. Composition begins as architecture — measured, repeated, indexed. Every artefact in our archive begins with restraint.
And then it is broken. We invite the rupture: the misprint, the smudged glyph, the deliberate static. What remains is a record of the collision.
A monograph paired with an algorithmic broadcast. Letterpress sheets answered by a generative noise score, shipped together as a single edition.
Identity for a silent retreat in the Hokuriku highlands. Hand-cut serifs against a kinetic display system that animates only when no one is looking.
A retrospective for a ceramicist whose works are smashed at the close of every show. The catalogue is bound in the dust of its own subject, then digitised in 16k.
Wayfinding for a museum of forgeries. Every sign tells the truth and a lie in equal measure; the visitor learns to read the gold leaf in between.
A perfumer’s annual: half woodblock, half lossless audio. The fragrance is named in serif italics; its accompanying tone is named in monospace.
We commission, edit, and bind. We also tear, overprint, and let the press misalign. Every monograph leaves the studio with a witnessed defect.
For each system we build, a counter-system. Marks that whisper paired with marks that interrupt. Logos that age and logos that refuse to.
Code that composes; gouges that resist. Our motion work begins as a written instruction and ends as something we could not have predicted.
