모순 — the unity of opposites

a contemplative space on contradictions

i.

To speak is to silence.

Words bring meaning into the open. To name a thing is to grant it form, to allow it to be held, considered, shared.

Words foreclose. The instant a thing is named, the unspoken portions of it fall away into shadow, unheard.

ii.

To act is to wait.

Action is the only fulcrum. Without motion, intention dissolves into mere wish; the world responds only to what arrives.

Stillness is the soil. Every meaningful act is preceded by a long, attentive listening — the doing follows what waiting has prepared.

iii.

To know is to forget.

正   thesis

Knowledge illuminates. To grasp a thing is to free oneself from confusion, to walk on ground that no longer slips beneath the foot.

反   antithesis

Knowledge calcifies. What is known too well becomes invisible; certainty smooths over the strange edges where understanding might have gone deeper.

iv.

To hold is to release.

To love is to stay. To accompany. To return, again and again, to the same face, the same conversation, the same uncertain dawn.

To love is to let go. To grant the other their unowned freedom, to refuse the small tyrannies of needing them to remain.

v.

To begin is to end.

Beginning opens. The first step casts a thousand futures into existence, each branching outward from the small decision to move at all.

Beginning closes. To choose this path is to leave every other one untraveled, and the road behind grows longer with each forward step.

vi.

To be alone is to belong.

Solitude divides. Apart from others, the self stands singular, contained, unreachable except by the slow patience of its own attending.

Solitude binds. Only there, in the still chamber of the self, can one hear the quiet kinship that joins every solitary thing to every other.

vii.

To remember is to lose.

Memory keeps. What was, remains — held in the soft chamber of recollection where time consents, briefly, to pause its erasures.

Memory revises. Each return rewrites the original; what is most beloved is most reshaped, until the kept thing is no longer the lost thing at all.
