We cultivate software the way one tends a night garden — slowly, after the noise has settled. Here, a function is a vine; a module, a trellis. We are interested in the parts of a system that only open after dusk, when the rest of the world has stopped watching. What we grow, we grow patiently.

To make something well is to accept that no one may notice the care. A joint hidden in the wood, a line of code never read again, the way a petal folds against itself before it opens — these are not for display. We hold to the slow disciplines: naming things truly, leaving the negative space alone, refusing the easy bloom. A garden is not a product. Neither, when it is tended properly, is software. We let it open in its own hour, and we are there to watch when it does.
