(R00, C00) — DESCEND

We hereby declare: love is a structural problem. It bears load. It carries the roof of an ordinary Tuesday. It is the truss inside the laughter, the cantilever of a held hand over a kitchen table at 2AM.

(R03, C07)

M

PRINCIPLE 01 — FORM FOLLOWS FEELING. THE GRID IS A SKELETON; DESIRE IS THE PULSE INSIDE IT.

A YELLOW CIRCLE IS A SUN THAT REFUSES TO SET ON US

You said geometry was cold. You had not seen the angle your shoulder makes against mine, exactly 23.5 degrees, the same slant as the rule that cuts this page.

(R05, C03)

PRINCIPLE 02 — NO ORNAMENT EXCEPT THE ONE YOU LEFT ON MY DESK.

luv

a triangle is a wound that points

a circle is a kiss with no end

a square is a promise with four corners

Affection is measured in increments of fifteen degrees. Anything else is chaos, and chaos is just a love we haven't drawn the plate for yet.

(R09, C08)

GEOMETRY IS THE GRAMMAR. YOU ARE THE SENTENCE I KEEP WANTING TO FINISH.

V

Every letterform here is a building. The U is a courtyard. The V is a wedge driven between two days I could not stand to be apart from you. The blob is the part of me the grid could never contain.

CONDENSED. UPPERCASE. ON THE VERGE OF OVERFLOWING. LIKE EVERYTHING I HAVE NOT YET SAID TO YOU.

THE GRID IS LOSING ITS COMPOSURE.

It started small — a spill of pink behind tile (R03,C07). By the time anyone noticed, it had pushed between the rectangles, bled onto the cream, contaminated the rivet lines. Love does not RSVP.

RECTANGLES: OUTNUMBERED 3:1.

(R10, C05)

filed under: structural, eternal, slightly ugly, deliberate.
