The Origin of Carbon
Carbon is the fourth most abundant element in the universe by mass, forged in the cores of dying stars through stellar nucleosynthesis. Every carbon atom in your body was once part of a star that exploded billions of years ago. It is the backbone of organic chemistry, the scaffold upon which all known life is built.
The word "tanso" derives from the Japanese naming convention for elements, combining characters that evoke the essence of charcoal and elemental foundation. In the periodic table, carbon sits at atomic number six, a deceptively simple position for an element of such extraordinary versatility.

Each carbon atom bonded to four others in a rigid tetrahedral lattice. The hardest known natural material, born under extreme pressure deep within the Earth's mantle. Transparent to visible light yet impervious to nearly everything else.
