SCRIPTSWIRL

A studio of swirling forms, breathing surfaces, and ink that refuses to dry.

Vol. 07 / Tide Chart 2026 — Estuary Edition

A studio that pours rather than prints.

Scriptswirl is a small atelier of typographers, motion artists, and field illustrators who work where the line wants to bend. We treat letterforms like wet glass: held just long enough to take a shape, never long enough to harden. Our practice circles around handwritten roots, parametric tools, and the patience to wait for ink to find its own current.

Every commission begins on warm cream paper. We sketch, we breathe, we trace until the curve feels honest. Only then does anything reach a screen.

Selected work, freshly pulled from the estuary.

  • 2026

    Lumenmoss Identity

A breathing wordmark and modular blob system for an off-grid bioluminescent garden in Galicia. Forty-eight clip-path variants, all hand-tuned.

  • 2025

    Halcyon Tide Journal

Editorial system for a quarterly oceanographic review. Each issue's spreads morph from a single circular master shape, echoing wave propagation.

  • 2025

    Petalfold Bakery

Packaging that unfolds along curved bezier creases. Customers report a 22% slower checkout — they keep turning the box.

  • 2024

    Ondine Conservatory

Permanent installation: nine projected blobs that respond to the room's humidity, pulsing slower in dry weather and faster in fog.

Six gentle currents, no straight lines.

  1. i

    Listening Walk

An hour together, outdoors, near water if possible. We do not bring devices, only a folded sheet and a soft pencil.

  2. ii

    Wet Sketches

Forty to sixty pencil-and-ink drafts on warm-cream paper. We map mood as topography before we name a single feature.

  3. iii

    Bezier Translation

We coax the most resonant sketch into a parametric system — eight to twelve control points per shape, every one named and intentional.

  4. iv

    Breathing Study

We animate the boundary. Each control point gets its own oscillation rate so no two breaths sync. The form starts to feel alive.

  5. v

    Color Steeping

Translucent palettes layered like watercolor washes. We test overlap zones for unexpected mixtures — the happiest accidents stay.

  6. vi

    Soft Delivery

Final assets arrive in a hand-bound folio. Digital handoffs include living variants — clip-paths that keep moving long after we sign off.

Notes left on the studio fridge.

"They redrew our brand on a tide. We thought we were getting a logo; we got a small weather system."
— Mireille, Halcyon Tide Journal
"Every animation in the system breathes at a slightly different rate. After six months I still notice new ones."
— Tariq, Lumenmoss Gardens
"They asked us what our packaging smelled like before they asked what it should look like. That changed everything."
— Solene, Petalfold Bakery
