A line that was once a flaw becomes the place where light enters. The kintsugi master pours gold into the broken seam not to hide the wound, but to remember the moment of falling. The vessel holds tea again, but it carries history in its veins.

Ma is not the absence of sound. It is the place where sound becomes meaningful. We leave room around each thing because the room is what allows the thing to breathe.
In the architecture of a tea house, the empty corner is the most carefully considered. The shadow under the bamboo shelf is built before the shelf.

無常
A monk sweeps the temple courtyard each morning. Leaves fall through the afternoon. Tomorrow he sweeps again. The path is never finished — that is what makes it a path. The repetition is not a failure of permanence; it is the form of devotion that permanence cannot take.
Wabi-sabi does not mourn what fades. It attends to it. The tea bowl in late autumn light, with its uneven glaze and the small chip near the rim, is not a lesser bowl. It is a bowl that has been somewhere.
無常 · mujō
All things flowing. The water in the stone basin is not the same water that was there an hour ago, but the basin remains.
quiet things
静物
An iron kettle on cold ash. A folded letter beside a window. Rain that falls on a roof tile and slows. The world is full of things that ask nothing of us — that simply are, until they aren't.
音もなく、時も流れる。
