02 THE SKETCH

A sketch is permission to be incorrect. We start every engagement with twenty rough variations — pencil on tracing paper, gestures in Figma, scraps of code thrown against the wall. The point isn't decision; it's territory. We are mapping where the answer could possibly live before we commit to standing in any one place.

Twenty wrongs make a right one.

We don't show the client the first sketch. We show the twenty-first. By then, the form has been argued with, contradicted, and rebuilt. It carries the weight of every option we considered and discarded. That is how a sketch earns the right to become a thing.

03 THE ITERATION

Coarse

Functional. Ugly. Truthful. The first build exists only to find out what the project is actually about.

v0.4

Recut

We delete 60% of what we made and rebuild around the parts that survived contact with users. The remaining 40% gets kinder.

v0.7

Polish

Type comes in tighter. Color decisions become final. Microcopy is rewritten until each sentence carries weight.

v0.9

Settle

We stop adding. We start removing. The prototype stops becoming and begins, finally, to be.

04 THE TEST

We test by handing the work to someone who didn't make it and watching what happens to their face. We log the second they hesitate. We ask them what they thought it was going to do. The gap between prediction and behavior is the only feedback that matters; the rest is theater.

A prototype only becomes a product the moment we stop touching it. That moment is small, almost ceremonial: we close the working file, we tidy the studio, we write a final note in the project journal. And then the work, finally, leaves us — to do its own thinking in rooms we will never see.
