m y s t e r i o u s . d a y

a labyrinthine night market where every stall sells something impossible

confusion is a gift & mystery is the highest form of respect

to begin mid-thought, the way memory begins

↓ keep going, the page begins lower

// entry 01 — what this is

A small confession, written in a narrow column

This is not a website in the sense you have come to expect. There is no product to sell, no funnel to descend into, no testimonial scroll to nod through. ↗ skip ahead if you must

mysterious.day is a manifesto disguised as a celebration -- a deliberate refusal to pretend that order is the same as meaning. The grids that build it are hand-measured. The letters scattered above were rearranged by your scrolling, but they could just as easily have stayed where they fell.

We were taught to make things that convert. We are choosing, instead, to make something that opens.

like reading a scroll, or a letter folded too many times

Read this column slowly. The rest of the page is the rest of the page.

// scene iv — turn your head, or don't

to look at a thing sideways is to remember that the right way is just the way you happened to be standing.

↳ a vertical aside, like a pillar of text

A small cabinet of mysterious objects

— each one labelled, none of them explained

A bottle that holds an afternoon

acquired 1987, somewhere on a coastline

cat. 003-A

A compass that points to "interesting"

it has rarely agreed with a map

cat. 011-B

A book whose pages are windows

readable only at 2am, in unfamiliar cities

cat. 027-A

A celadon bowl that hums at dawn

never the same note twice

cat. 044-C

A wind chime tuned to forgetting

silent in still air; loud at memory

cat. 062-D

A persimmon that tastes of home

but never the home you grew up in

cat. 081-A

A paper crane folded by no hands

found in an empty room, perfectly creased

cat. 099-B

A spiral shell that remembers the sea

also: every conversation it has overheard

cat. 117-C

What did you expect to find here, and did finding it disappoint you?

— take all the time, the page is finished, the page is also not finished
