A portmanteau. Masu-komi -- mass communication. Gomi -- garbage. The word collapses the medium and its product into a single utterance, refusing the polite distinction the broadcast industry has insisted upon for the better part of a century.
This site is not a translation of that word. It is a transmission station that operates under its banner, broadcasting from the negative space between the slick authority of network television and the creeping suspicion that the signal has been corrupted from the moment it left the studio.

The Authority is Performed
The nightly anchor reads from the teleprompter with the gravitas of a documentary voiceover. The font is bold. The color graded. The lighting calculated to produce trust at twenty-four frames a second.
Strip the color. Slow the frame rate. Let the magnetic tape degrade for thirty years. What remains is an institution speaking in declarative sentences about events that may or may not have occurred -- a beautiful hallucination of certainty, broadcast on a frequency that nobody is required to receive.

The Duotone Argument
The palette here is not decorative. The violet-pink reprocessing of every image is a working diagram of media itself: reality enters, the institution applies its filter, and what exits has been remapped into the chromatic ideology of the channel.
