Nine vignettes. Irregular hang. The frames argue with each other; the room is better for it.
“The frame is the argument; the picture is the alibi.” — after H. Newton
aljosim. The word arrives without translation. It is an instruction to look longer than is comfortable, to hold a frame in the eye until its colors begin to argue. Each plate in this exhibition was chosen for the way it refuses to settle.
A second hang, denser. Smaller plates, longer pauses. The wall is now charred plum; the hand-rule glows.
Hang the work where the wall protests; the room will adjust.
