postp.day

post-everything. what remains.

after the editing is done

There was more here once. Paragraphs of explanation, justification, context. Images that illustrated points already made by the text. Navigation that anticipated paths nobody took. All of it was removed, not because it was wrong, but because it was unnecessary. What remains is what the reader actually needs.

subtraction as method

The first draft had color. The second had two typefaces. The third had one typeface at three weights. The fourth had one typeface at two weights. Each revision removed something that seemed essential until it was gone. The final artifact is not what was designed. It is what survived the editing.

less but better

The phrase belongs to Dieter Rams but the principle belongs to everyone who has looked at their work and asked: what can I remove? Not what can I add to make it better, but what can I take away without making it worse. When nothing can be removed, the work is finished.

whitespace and type

Two materials. One typeface. Eight values between white and black. One horizontal line. This is sufficient. The constraint is not a limitation — it is the architecture. Within these constraints, every decision carries weight. The difference between weight 300 and weight 400 becomes a statement. The margin between sections becomes a rhythm.

after the post

Post-modern. Post-digital. Post-production. Post-processing. Post implies something that comes after — a state arrived at through experience of what came before. This site has been through the full cycle of web design trends and arrived at the other side. Not at the beginning. At the end. The post.
