The Annual Quest
Each year begins with a question and ends with a different question. The annual quest is not circular -- it is spiral. We return to the same themes (purpose, craft, connection, solitude) but from a higher vantage point each time.
This publication chronicles the journey. Not the destination, which does not exist, but the texture of the traveling: the landscapes crossed, the strangers met, the small revelations that accumulate into transformation.
On Craft
Craft is the disciplined repetition of attention. The potter at the wheel, the writer at the desk, the coder at the terminal -- each returns daily to the same tools, the same gestures, and discovers something new in the sameness.
The annual quest honors this repetition. It does not seek novelty but depth. It does not chase trends but cultivates roots.
The quest is not to arrive but to become worthy of the journey.
The Return
Every annual cycle ends with a gathering of what was learned. Not conclusions -- gatherings. The facts are less important than the feelings. The data is less important than the wisdom. The quest teaches through experience, not instruction.
