THE HUNTER RISES OVER THE BATTLEMENT HORIZON
At twenty-one-oh-four, Orion cleared the eastern wall of the observatory courtyard. The three belt stars — Alnitak, Alnilam, Mintaka — were captured as a single square of amber ink against the cream of the night. Seeing was listed as four of five; the atmosphere breathed gently, stars held still. The Great Nebula (M42) was visible to the unaided eye as a faint pixel of sage green on the Hunter's sword.
Noted: a faint meteor tracked north-to-south through the Hunter's shield at 21:17 UTC. The parchment was marked in copper.
