The Geometric Poetry of Korean Script

The Circle

The void from which all sound emerges. A perfect zero, a cosmic egg — the silent consonant that begins every vowel-initial syllable.

The Angle

A sharp thrust into space. The velar stop, born from the back of the tongue pressing against the palate — geometry made audible.

The Crown

Three elements in harmony — dot, line, circle. The aspirated breath that carries meaning through space, crowned with its distinctive stroke.

The Block

Consonants and vowels compose into syllable blocks — miniature architectural compositions where each component finds its place in the grid.

한글날

October 9th — Hangul Day

A celebration of King Sejong's gift to his people: a writing system designed with radical empathy, where the shapes of letters mirror the shapes of the mouth that speaks them.
