Origin Story

how the bar was built

2019

First Commit

A late-night IRC conversation about how open-source communities deserved their own watering holes. Two devs, one domain name, zero funding.

2020

Community Merge

Merged with three local dev meetup groups. The first Tap List launched showcasing projects that deserved more attention.

2022

v2.0 — The Reef

Launched the contributor reef, a living visualization of community activity. Every PR, every issue, every commit became a ripple in the tank.

2026

Always Open

Now home to 2,847 contributors across 389 projects. The bar never closes. The source is always open. Pull up a stool.
