That moment when something catches you off guard and your chest tightens with a feeling you can't quite name yet. Your lips twitch. Your eyes widen. Something is about to happen and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.
It starts in your diaphragm. A tremor. A seismic flutter that rumbles upward through your ribcage like an approaching stampede.
Your shoulders begin to shake. You press your lips together. You clamp a hand over your mouth. It does not work. It never works.
The sound escapes through your nose first, a snort, a hiss, a pressurized leak of pure joy escaping its containment vessel.
And then your whole body surrenders to the wave. Every muscle contracts. Your eyes squeeze shut. You are helpless, ecstatic, completely gone.
