street-style meets hardware nostalgia

CH 01

archetypos.dev

A curated intersection of street culture and hardware nostalgia. Zine layouts, circuit traces, and faded Polaroids from the analog frontier.

About the Studio

The Manifesto

We operate at the intersection of street culture and hardware nostalgia. Every project begins with a soldering iron and a sketchbook, building from circuit-level thinking up to surface-level design. Our work is hand-drawn, screen-printed, and imperfect by intention. We believe the best interfaces feel discovered, not designed.

Philosophy

The internet was more exciting when it was underground. We bring that energy to every pixel -- raw, tactile, saturated with the warm amber glow of incandescent bulbs and CRT monitors.

Process

Thrift store CRT monitors. Dog-eared Emigre magazines. Sticker-slapped circuit boards. Heat-stained soldering mats. We start analog and end digital, preserving every imperfection along the way.

Projects

Signal Zine Vol. 3

A limited-run risograph publication exploring the visual language of abandoned radio towers and their circuit architecture. 48 pages, kraft stock, hand-numbered edition of 200.

Print

Harajuku Hardware

A photographic essay documenting Tokyo's Akihabara district through the lens of disposable cameras. Faded Polaroid aesthetics meet neon-drenched circuit board markets. Featured in PRINTED Magazine Issue 47.

Photography

Patina OS

An experimental operating system UI concept built around the aesthetic of oxidized copper and aged kraft paper. Every interface element carries the visual weight of physical wear.

Interface

Solder Serif

A custom typeface inspired by the embossed lettering found on vintage oscilloscope faceplates. Each glyph carries the DNA of industrial electronics labeling, reinterpreted for contemporary display use.

Typography

Trace & Tag

A streetwear capsule collection where circuit board traces replace traditional graphic patterns. Screen-printed on organic cotton using conductive ink. Each piece can actually complete a simple LED circuit.

Open for Collaboration

We are always looking for fellow circuit-benders, zine-makers, type designers, and anyone who believes the best design feels like it was found in a thrift store and brought back to life. Reach out for commissions, collaborations, or to trade stickers.
