a small wooden building
where ideas keep warm

HHUDDL is a quiet room with a wood stove, a long table, and four lanterns that someone always remembers to light. We gather here to make slow things — notes that become rituals, sketches that become tools, half-thoughts that become small workshops by morning.

small rooms in the hut

six workshops, each with its own smell of woodsmoke and ink.

02 21 OCT

The Lantern Room

Where we keep the working lights low and the thinking lights bright. A small archive of things that almost worked, sorted by the season they almost worked in.

03 14 OCT

The Match Tin

A drawer of unstruck ideas. Each one labeled with a small word and a smaller date. Open it when the day feels low and the kettle is already on.

04 07 OCT

The Postal Scale

We weigh small things here. Letters, feathers, the heft of a good sentence. A workshop in proportion, run on a single brass scale and several opinions.

The Rope-Leg Chair

An old chair we mended with a length of marine rope. It is now the most-borrowed seat in the hut. Lessons in repair, attended by anyone who broke something this week.

06 23 SEP

The Three-Handle Lantern

It does not need three handles. It has three handles. We host a small group here once a month to discuss the necessary and the also-true.

07 16 SEP

The Smoke-Question

The cabin's chimney sometimes draws a question mark into the cold air. We do not interrogate it. We sit with it. Once a season, a quiet salon.

a small note — if the page feels like a building, the bench is the porch. you can stop here. you can keep going. either is correct.
