DESCA
.WORK
A workspace stripped to its functional marrow. Poured, cured, and exposed. No softening. No hedging. The structure is the surface.
RAW.
EXPOSED.
DELIBERATE.
Every joint is visible. Every structural decision confronts rather than decorates. We do not finish what does not need finishing — formwork marks remain on the wall. The grain of the timber that shaped the slab is part of the slab.
desca derives from desk and from descarga. A discharge point. A surface to deposit the day's gravity.

FORCE
PROCESS AS
FORMWORK
The work begins with the negative — the cavity, the brace, the temporary scaffold that determines the shape of what is poured. We treat process as the visible armature; the deliverable is the cooled mass left behind.

THE STUDIO
AS LOAD-
BEARING WALL
A small practice operating from a single concrete-floored room above a tannery. Two principals, one apprentice, one resident dog. We accept three commissions per quarter. We refuse to grow beyond the dimensions of the room.
